very recently my company offered me a mastercard for online purchases but i have previous experience of its use. I can not ask here from any one because i don't want to disclose this fact on them.

Something like http://www.beachnet.com/~hstiles/cardtype.html will help you check if the card number is a reasonable one, and of course you can check validity dates yourself. I think the only real way to make sure is to actually use the card though.. Why do you suspect it of being invalid?

I think you can go to bank and ask the teller, some banks have promotion and its different type of card, try to ask
