It can be done. You'd have to first go to another country and contact the Iranian embassy there for Visa info. Iran has no embassy in the US since 1979. There are also no direct flights to and from Iran.

Yes because tensions are high between two countries. Americans also have problems to travel to Iran. That's how politics work. Ordinary people are paying the price

i'm ashamed to say that in the 8 years that I lived in Iran, I in reality traveled to Tehran, Ray, Karaj, Qom, Babolsar, and Ramsar. i'm 0.5 Isfahani Persian and 0.5 Azerbaijani. yet i have never been to both Isfahan or Tabriz. :( sometime, i desire to visit a lot of Iran's important cities.

You have to apply to a U.S. Consulate, They will process your
application & issue you a visa if qualify for one.
