Probably you, but for different reasons.
Know this, that you can overcome this pain. It does not seem it now, but there is nothing that you can't handle. Get out in the sun, keep your life going, as any parent would want this. talk to your dad, tell him how happy you were today, but you can still tell him that your sad about his condition. If I were in your shoes, I might tell my dad that I am going to accept what has happened, as there is nothing I can do about it, and I am going to make the best of the situation by being happy, for his sake and your's, and talking with him. Life through us a curve-ball, but I am throwing it back and showing my strength. My dad would be proud of me for that, and your's will, too. Keep talking to him, and show him that you can make the best of this that you possibly can.

Who is suffering more is a hard question to answer. Depends on how the stroke effected his brain, can he still think and talk? If so I would say him simply because he can no longer do the things he is used to doing and has to rely on others for everything but is aware of this and the fact that his family is hurting because of his suffering. If not then I say his family for having to sit there and see him suffer the way he is suffering. It's not an easy thing to deal with seeing a loved one hurting or incapacitated in that way. That doesn't mean you have to be miserable. Find something you enjoy and do it, don't sit there and bemoan a loss that hasn't really happened. Get out there and do something you enjoy and share it with your dad. Even if he can't do the things you tell him about at least he can hear you talk about it. My father always says he wants whats best for me. I'm certain he would not think me being miserable over his condition would be best.

Both! My grandmother is the same way. Although she knows whats going on, she cant speak. She lost all control of her right side so now shes wheelchair bound. We as her family hate seeing her like this but are thankful to still have her here. She wants so much to die to be out of this misery that shes now in. My mother tried for 6 months or more to care for her at home but it was too much. Even with hired help. All I can offer is that u care for him the best u can and still love him like u used to. That should never change.
