Yes. I have several friends who are members and I have met hundreds of other members. They seem very ordinary people except that they are happy and are good examples of Christian living. I might have joined them a few years ago but decided against it. I have never seen the film or read the book, but everything they say about Opus Dei seems to be false.

Yes. It was started by Jose'maria Escriva de Balaguer of Spain in the 1940's. The recently deceased pope John Paul II took Opus Dei under his wing and allowed it to flourish and become the powerful entity that it is today. Opus Dei has been involved with eliminating many groups who are a threat to the Catholic Church, including Communism and Marxism. The new fear of Opus Dei today is Islam.

No i've never heard of Opus Dei.
Why do you believe a book that even the writer said was fiction?

Yes. My step father was raised a Catholic, and he had a copy of The Way, which I asked him about and he explained it to me.

yeah, there was a whole deal with them and polish politics, how some people in government were alleged members.
then i looked them up.
just a bunch of catholics who want to return to hardcore catholicism.
