I have to very close real life friends that met their married partner through on line dating services (Both still happily married).
They both agree that you have to suffer through the bad dates to find people that are interesting to you.
I can't remember which sites they used, but you had to pay, and they both agreed you'll have an easier time of it if you post a head shot pic instead of no pic.

online dating really gets people together. initially its a cyber fantasy but once get to know each other by xchanging mails/talks one may get close the other

it doesn't have to be a fantasy, it depends on many things.
My bf and I met online, but he is from my city and it was possible to meet and get to know better.
We are 7 years together!
Otherwise it could be expensive and risky, if you live in different cities or states...i don't know...
