You will never see a Blue feather from a blue jay. They reflect the color blue. They have no blue pigment in their feathers!

There are many birds with Blue looking feathers but no blue pigment. Some of them are: blue-winged teal, bluebird, black-throated blue warbler, the indigo bunting, hummingbirds, ducks, even some pigeons look like they have blue feathers but there is no blue pigment there. There is not a single blue feather in the world according to the article I read on Bird Watchers Digest.
