I feel so much anger and rage bubbling up inside me and I don't know what to do. I feel like smashing my head in to a window or stabbing myself with knives. Sometimes the anger is directed at other ppl. but no one can ever see it because I never let it out. It worries me and I want to get rid of it. I am also under enormous amounts of stress

The best solution in my case, since i do go through the same thing as you is SLEEP. Ever heard of the quote ''sleep on it first''. Best thing to do is think of all the rage and anger thats hitting you before you sleep. Once you wake up again, it usually becomes a petit matter and you come to your senses about it all. Another way i control this is by music. Probably a shocking answer is listening to the more heavier metal music, such as system of a down or slipknot. Although the include some extremely violent lyrics, they can also transfer the rage out of you by almost ''sympathising'' what you are going through in your head. Shout along with it, get all that rage out, why not. After each song you feel exhausted and a sigh of relief will hopefully get to you.

First thing first, why are you so angry? I don't want to pry but is it because of stress from work? Friends? A loved one? Family? It's not a good thing that you're storing up all this energy inside. The good news is that you're aware of it and want to get rid of it.

There are several things you can do. One is to find someone you can talk to so you can vent ALL of your problems (even if it's a small thing). This will help you release some of the pressures of your daily life so you can focus on more important things like your health and well being. Try to find someone who is able to listen to you and not criticize you on everything that you do. You just want a friend who's going to be there.

The second thing you can do is try to exercise. From personal experience, I know it's not a good idea to go boxing if you're angry. Although it seems like you're boxing your worries away, you're actually making it worse. First, your knuckles are going to hurt pretty badly, even if you wear gloves and wraps. Second, after awhile, your mind is going to be conditioned to physically hitting someone will equal a release in stress. The reason why I know this is because I actually punched a guy who was stressing me out. Let's just say it wasn't a pretty sight but that's another story for later.

Also, another key to this is to eat healthy. It's amazing when you're not eating healthy since you actually suffer more. You don't get to come home with a good meal it raises your stress levels. Eating healthy and sleeping enough each night is very important to having a good day.

Finally, if all of the above still doesn't resolve your problems, you might want to consider seeing a counselor. I always thought that seeing a counselor was a bad idea because it meant I was weak and it was a shameful experience (and I'm a psychology major!), but it really did do me alot of good. I learned more about myself through the sessions than I thought I did throughout my life. If you have friends who are seeing a counselor, talk to them and ask them about who's good/recommended and who isn't.

I hope you feel better soon. Intense rage is never a good thing. Take care and good luck!

You said you were under a lot of stress. That's probably the reason. Stress can cause huge amounts of anger to bubble up inside, and if you keep it all bottled up, it will only get worse and could make you more stressed.

cognetic behavior therapy. its an understanding of how the mind works. with understanding comes acceptance. its also about retraining of the mind. without understanding there can never be acceptance. you need to find the core of the anger first then understand it and then accept it. this worked for me and i put in 100% dedication. good luck it took me about 2 years. that was 5 years ago and i am now a mellow person without anger. i still think the same thort's now and again but i understand and that makes it ok. good luck.

The one thing that both me and my best friend has done that has worked wonders is to work out. Take it out at a gym, lift weights, run, whatever. You'll vent it out and at the same time be healthier because of it. You should also identify what the source of the rage is and deal with it.

Well, obviously you are in control or you wouldn't be able to sit and answer questions.
You should release some of your pent up emotions though.
You might want to prevent your stress from building up by reducing the cause of your stress. Make a plan and procede slowly, step by step.

Start doing meditation, 30 minutes at least twice a day. Get an audio cassette or cd on meditation, that works nice. The best way to get a start is to go through a course or excercise so that you can have best use of it. Best of luck.

In response to your question, I also feel like you.... and I dont really know how to realise the rage either.

I used to just throw some of my stuff (worthless stuff) on the floor, cry my anger out in the loo, write angry words on paper and rip them to bits.. but, all these no longer work for me. cos i'm just too angry. You can try and see if they work for you.

Take care!

well you sound like you could use some counceling but exercise is also a very good outlet for pent up energy. I have a heavy bag i punch on when i need to release. Feels real good too and that bag can be anyone i want it to be. I have a friend who is a runner and she says thats why she runs, to release her pent up energy. Good luck to you.
