When you say skeptics in my perception those are the general people who don't use airplane as means of transportation and don't know anything about aviation industry.
Main reason: airbus industry s.a.s. will not going built such a 555 seater plane with any studies. The design of this airplane is to lessen the congestion of air traffic mainly in European countries and also for the rest of the continent. Also for world record, fame, technology these are just some reason why they built it. There are still a lot of reason why they built A380. It is definitely a NOT waste of money.

Mostly because of the size and gas consumption. Most airlines nowadays are using smaller jets that they can fill with passengers and which use less fuel...the A380 uses more fuel and there is no way that one will ever be full...they hold like 600 people. Plus, as stated above somewhere, only a few airports can handle the size of the plane and have the machines to unload it.

I think a big problem with the A380 is only a hand full of airports world wide can handle the mammoth.
To be able to have the aircraft land alot of airports would have to widen most of their taxiways considerably, runway length probably isn't an issue for most. They would pretty much have to make whole new terminals, hardly any jet bridges can pull up to the door. It is just very costly to get in the position of catering to it.

mainly because of the size....since 9-11 alot of the larger aircraft have been set aside because not as many people have been traveling....northwest is still suffering as wel as delta. jet blue on the other hand is doing well because they fly smaller aircraft which accomadate the smaller amout of people flying. Pehaps in the near future the airlines will be back at full status and that is why many of the airbusses are being sold. besides that airports have to accomadate the the beasts....they have to spend alot of money to reconfigure gates.

not only skeptics,i would also think that it is a ''disgusting'' aircraft.with no looks and not sexy at all to compare with the boeing's plane and even the plane that airbus built themself.so,no offence to airbus lovers.
