Anyone interested in joining or just learning more about the Catholic Church should contact their local parish and ask about information about their RCIA Inquiry group.
You can go and ask any questions you want.
This is the first step in RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) but you can stop at any time. There is no obligation to become a Catholic.
With love in Christ.

For the Catholic wanting to become a Protestant, that is pretty much the whole purpose of the Protestant movement! Just dress up on Sunday morning, walk into any Protestant church, sit down, and listen to the service. (They usually post the service hours on a sign out front of the church.) If you like what you hear, then you can talk to the minister/preacher/priest afterwards about joining. (You don't have to officially join to attend, but that may be required before you can take part in rituals like Communion.) You might want to shop around by visiting several different churches to see which one's services and tenants you like the best. For an American Catholic, the Episcopalian church would be the most familiar, but feel free to discuss each church's beliefs with the fellow in charge: They love to get a chance to explain that stuff!

not worry at all that there's much difference. same book, but King James will give you better insight into the original languages and so the translation tends to be more informative.
mostly the differences are procedures and some beliefs (ie Pope is infallable). really important not to get caught up in the differences that man has put on the same source - the Bible.
God's Word is God's word, so the best thing to do is study yourself all that you can. remember, the Master said he'd tear the Temple down and rebuild it in three days. The temple went from being a building to being you. there was a big problem with the church in the days of Jesus that continues to this day - and that is teaching the Word and feeding the sheep. they don't seem to have the flocks best interest at heart. Protestant or Catholic is mostly just differences in Bible translation along with their past power struggles that is tied to European, royalty, and world history.
Good luck, and best Bible I've ever found is called the Companion Bible from Kregel Publishing. notes all original language so translation is very accurate. also a Strong's Exhaustive Concordance will help you to confirm and translate original Aramaic, Hebrew and Greek.
