Without America, Europe would be a Nazi Socialist regime. Those Nazis would just as soon occupy your country and take the oil they need. We, on the other hand, pay oil producers well for their resources. We only invade tyranical warlords bent on trouble-making. You can thank us at your leisure. And you should pray to whatever state-run church that the oil doesnt dry up. What else do you have that anyone would want? Rugs? You dont know how lucky you really are. You would be just another third-world country run by tyrants if you didnt have oil. Oh, wait, those tyrants dont share the wealth, do they? You live like you are a third-world country, dont you? If your leaders were democratically elected and you had a real economic system, you might not have to stand in line for water and the majority of your country folk would have TVs, air-conditioning, refrigerators, decent medical care, and the Freedom of Choice. Maybe you're all high and mighty that you have the One True Faith, that doesnt change that you live like dogs, people only like you for your oil, and your leaders use you like chess pieces. How long will you stand for this? As long as the Clerics tell you to?

Wow, that sounds more like a rant than a question, for the most part. I don't think that the world wouldn't exist, but it is true that many of the modern-day inventions and innovations began here. Also, we were one of the first countries to make wide-spread democracy work, although I think we didn't work hard enough to perfect our current system. It gives us many rights that non-democratic countries don't give their citizens. I don't believe that we should push that on anyone (I think it's the Christian influence on our country that causes us to do that so much--annoying politically as well as religiously), but I do think that, no matter the governmental system, everyone in every country in the whole world should be acknowledged as having equal rights to everyone else, with the exception of criminals.
You know, I'm the first one to advocate that America should do LESS for other countries out there, and do you know why? We can't even keep our own people sheltered and fed if they are homeless. We don't care if they have enough to eat--oh, except the freeloaders who take advantage of a completely out-dated wellfare system. I think we should worry more about our own country first, and if that makes me selfish, well, then so be it. I'd rather be selfish and not pass bums on the street with their ribs poking out than unselfish and see bodies on the side of the road from exposure and starvation while we are over in other countries giving them the food our own citizens could have used while trying to tell them how much better our system is. It's better for who? Those poor homeless people? Somehow I doubt it. Many of them are homeless because they are mentally unbalanced and not getting treatment, or because they are unable to get a job due to a disability so they can't support themselves, and we aren't willing to help them. I think that's sad.
Trust me, I know that we're broken, but I don't think it's for the reasons you've stated. They aren't the root of our problems by a long shot.
Also, we aren't the only countries with violent and sex-filled movies--and if they weren't so popular overseas, maybe there'd be less of them, too. The movie industry just takes advantage of what it thinks its audience wants to see. Don't use that as an excuse, not when there are television stations out there that proudly display videos from men who kill innocents in our country simply because they don't agree with our way of life or are jealous of what we have.

Why are there people from other countries that have no ability to do anything but generalize about the opinions of all Americans? We have one crappy President and 330 million residents. Do you really think we all think like our government does? It's time to let non-Americans in on a widely unpublicized secret. There are millions of poor people in America! There are a hundred million more who are one paycheck away from being homeless! The percentage of affluent people in this country is very small. Most of us don't hate other countries, or think we are better than other countries. We are just trying to survive.

I just want to say that you have very deep issues, my friend. Hatred of americans is how this whole sloppy mess got started in the first place. Instead of spouting and spreading that hatred, maybe you should stop and breathe hon... be above the influence. Yes, Bush is an idiot... Sadly, there are many americans who aren't too bright themselves. But then I'm sure there are many Arabs who have the same problem. So it is unfair to lump everyone into the same category! Otherwise, you are just as ignorant as the people you claim to hate. Think about it.....

Probably because if not for America, the world you live in would not exist. As mentioned in a previous answer, Nazi Germany would rule the WHOLE of Europe and probably more. Totalitarian regimes would have carte blanche over their people.
We have our problems, sure. But we don't kill others for not believing in a particular diety. We don't intentionally kill women and children.
if we were TRULY the great SATAN. We would have killed the millions of people who live in middle east countries whose stated goal is the destruction of the United States. We have nuclear weapons and refrain from using them, Iran will fire them as soon as they get them.
I have an idea, when other countries can live in peace and stop eating from huge sacks of food labeled "from the people of the United States of America." We'll be an isolationist country on our own shores. Sound good?

Actually, you're dead wrong. People in America know and believe all too well the bubble has got to burst one day. That's why smart people from other countries keep coming over here for "a piece of the action" before it does (don't forget we are made up of people who came here), because they too know that. But then there is the whiners and cry babies like you that give us daily motivation to rise above stupidity, and we seem to make it through one day at a time.

If you look at history...there is always a cycle happening in development and destruction.. for example 5000 years ago, it was golden age in India, then as time proceeded, we fell...detoriated..and nearly messed up our own country before things started to turn around again and in the last 10 years or so we have started the up going path...
Same in the case of america...they have started climbing down the rungs now...and in years to come, you would probably see americans migrating to other countries or trying to get spanish or Congoese citizenship and seeking jobs in sudan or somalia :)

I think you misspelled "accept" with "except." It's a different meaning, you know. Regarding your question, I think it's called arrogant by some Americans, not all of them. If you see that there are always poor countries who are in need of the help of America, so it indirectly creates such attitude, because they think the States have "helped" other poor countries to be prosperous or what not, meaning, in their mind, they're in the best "country" in the world. That's not my word, you know.

Not at all. Back in the 90's maybe, when McDonald's was actually serving food. Now it's a bunch of fillers and garbage that have make 68% of America obese. It is an addictive drug that is disgusting and any self-respecting person wouldn't eat there. Unless of course you live in Europe where McDonald's is actually food and not the gross garbage they serve in America.

americans don't have that attitude. stupid people do, and there are stupid people in every country who think like that. the world also tends to blame their problems on america because it's an easy thing to do, but doesn't always have substance.
can't the good people find each other and start running things?
