Is it more likely for you to believe someone over 2000 years ago had one, or god talked to them or something similar happen to them that you read about in a book? Why believe them over someone you knew? and why believe your book over someone elses book? Are you better than the other people who believe god said different things to different people?

It depends on who told me. Not everyone is entitled to see a vision from god

Well you have the free Will to beleive what you want but here are some facts. The bible have been preserved and it is the truth. If your friend is close to God then she can absolutely see a vision. the bible said if you want to know if a prophet is of God then watch if his word will come through. in other words watch to see if your friends word will come through. The bible is inspired by God and that is the difference betwwen the bible and other books. never beleive a person over the bible. the fact that you are asking this questions means that god is trying to get a hold of your heart. bless

People had more faith 2000 years ago than they do now. They saw Jesus perform miracles, raise the dead, walk on water, and then be resurrected from the grave. Yet remember that in His own home town He was limited because of their lack of faith.

Mark 6:5-6 (NIV)
He could not do any miracles there, except lay his hands on a few sick people and heal them. [6] And he was amazed at their lack of faith.

I think our own disbelief in His abilities limits His abilities but if someone told me they had a vision from God and it didn't lead them to do something that went against God or dishonored Him I would believe it.

Yes, Why? Because God said so.

Acts 2:17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:

We are now living in the last days before Jesus comes to take His Church home with Him. Ready or not, Jesus is coming soon!

I may believe them. I would want to rule out paranoid schizophrenia since many schizophrenics have delusions of reference. However, I do believe in people with relatively normal mental health believing they have heard from the God of their understanding.

My concern with 2000 year old tales of divine inspiration lies in the power of folklore. There are too many connecting threads in diverse religion for me to believe in the accuracy of all the reports. I'd be more inclined to believe someone current where we could assess their mental functioning.

Yes, I had a friend who was in a bad car accident. She died and came back. While she was out, she saw a mutual friend who died from cancer. He was telling her that it wasn't her time. She said somebody was holding her up, but wasn't touching her. She turned her head and saw Jesus. She has since recuperated and has turned her life totally around because of this. I believe her vision. If it happened to her, why couldn't it happen to others? Besides, I've had many things that "could've" happened to me, but I believe my Guardian Angel protected me. But, that's another story.

Well, bibile is clear that the revelation of word God is already in His Word, The Bible.. everythng He revealed is there already, all we need to do is to read it.. - to know that revelation.. If there is a new revelation that contradicts the revelation of God in the Bible is an errand, erronous, and not to be take us God's word or revelation from Him.. Any revelation that contradicts the teaching of God in the Bible is a false revelation and not to be taken as God's revelation..Read the Bible - for all revelation that He given us is there. The Bible is the revelation of His Word to His creation, and that is Us. Or better the Bible is The Word of God. No new revelation to man only that is being revealed by God in his Word - the Bible - thru the Holy Spirit which enable man to understand God's Word.. Pray to God for guidance.. ask Him to help you understand His Word.

No, i probably wouldnt. Not just from his word alone. The man 2,000 years ago proved time and time again who he was. I doubt if my friend could prove or convince me he had a vision. If the man that walked the earth long ago were here, he could convince me. Thats the difference.

Listen, GOD is accessible to all people. As a matter of fact, the judaic/ christian saying "there is none but GOD"
argues that everthing exists as a portion of GOD.

It is just a matter of being open to the cosmic "voice" and consciousnees outside of yourself. Meditaion help with this.
