I've used Polysporin ear/eye drops successfully on a cat with eye discharge..just one drop per eye every day until it clears up. Should only take a few days and if it doesn't help, see your vet.

Some cats, like humans, are "delicate." Liquid discharge from the eye could be the result of a long-term (low grade) infection. If this persists, you may want to visit your vet or get ahold of some Amoxil. It is a liquid antibiotic for cats.
I've had several cats that had this problem. Some were the result of diet and some were low grade infections.

If you don't feel comfortable with that, you can now buy special cat-grass in most pet stores for about 5-10 dollars. Sometimes my cats get runny eyes similar to a runny nose in people, it usually goes away in a few days.

I would call the vet and ask what he/she thinks. I have one kitty that gets some "crud" in her eye from time to time, and I remove it gently with a Q-tip. But defintely call the vet as it could be a sign of injufy or infection.
