I couldnt help but notice the similarities of the Garden of Eden, Adam and Eve, the "giants" who were the product of gods mating with men "annanuki" etc etc.

Just wondered how much of the bible came from these fables.

I meant the nephilim..(sp).

The bible also refers to them.
The Sumerian would have been Looooong before any claimed biblical sources, yet the writings are unmistakably similar if not identical. With the exception that these accepted fables.

I find interesting the "Religion" section of this.

Not all of it, but quite a bit of it. The creation of mankind relates most closely to the myth of Enki and Ninhursag. The Creation itself relates to myths that can be found throughout Sumer. Cain and Able comes from the myth Inanna prefers the farmer. The biblical myth of the snake and the tree comes fgrom a portion of Gilgamesh even so much as to include lilith. Much of the begats were taken as the hebrew version of the kings list. Noah can be taken from the sumerian flood stories.

Much ot the later stuff is Canaanite. Job was taken from Canaanite stories forexample.

This was because Abraham came from the city of Ur. He would have worshiped the sumerian gods by their Akkadian names and would have done things in a sumerian manner.

The ten commandments are actually rather close to a sumerian contract, and the commandments, if taken in the proper historical context, can be shown to make much more sense from a sumerian point of view.

Adendum:
to T.O. snooze !: the tablets we have from the sumerians can be easily dated both by scientific means and by comparing them to the historical accounts shown elsewhere. If compared with the bible we see that Abraham was said to come from the city of Ur and so if we find biblical stories in an erlier form then we can tell who had the stories first.

To Kevin: Where are you getting this? Your information doesn't fit with the known archeological evidence.

To Jengen: Why answer the question if you know nothing about the subject. He asked a simple archeology based question. He did not request a flawed sermon.

if you study the earliest religions, they are not copying each other but saying the same thing. The word soma means 'the gods spoke and it was so' - which is where the name Sumeria comes from. this is the same as "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was God," "My word is in you", etc, as words and language separate mankind from other animals.
Different peoples - same messages, same stories because they were all writing about the same thing. Unforrtunately, each group thinks they have an exclusive on God, but if you look at each religion closely you'll see confirmation of Genesis 1:26 - "Let us make man (adam = mankind) in our (note "our") image", which is not just the Eden story (Genesis 2), but the worldwide story. different gods for different peoples, but all from the same source, which is why when Adam and Eve left the Gardem there were people already everywhere.
