You can have both! That's right. There are microwave ovens available that have a fan forced convection oven all in one. I know some are sold under the brand name "SHARP" and they may be available in other brands.

They are however a little small; there's enough room to roast a chicken or leg of lamb but not enough for a turkey. The fan forced feature bakes cakes and cookies very well indeed, there is even browning and no hot spots. You really need both a microwave and a regular oven and this option gives you both in one unit.

If your trying to save money I would definately go with the microwave. They are very cost efficient and fast to use. It takes time to become aquainted with how to use them properly but you can get many ideas of the how too. Many individuals think that food looses it's flavor in the microwave but that is a false statement. If properly covered during cooking, a microwave holds the flavor in what ever your cooking where as in an oven it evaporates. Also some think it causes cancer such as the one in this answer question has mentioned and that is totally false. With the safety built into each unit there is no dangers. Just remember to use microwave cooking ware when using it. And definately DON'T put metal or styrofoam in it. If you like a scambled egg, you can crack one open, put it in a small microwave bowl, stir in a little butter with it and in seconds have a scrambled egg. Don't try to boil an egg though or you will have one heck of a mess to clean up. Have a cold cup of coffee or want to make a cup of tea, put it in the micro wave and it's hot in a minute. The microwave is also very easy to clean compared to a conventional oven. So there are actully many reasons to use a microwave vs an oven.

I would say go with the microwave, you can use it for more diverse items, and it's quicker by a long shot. the conventional ones are more like mini versions of real ovens, so you can make the same things, it just takes a little longer to preheat the big one. I've owned both, and I hardly ever used the mini-oven.

Definitely an oven. Microwaves are good for reheating stuff, but I wouldn't actually cook in it. I'm assuming you mean a toaster oven, not an actual full size oven. I recommend the black and decker model that holds a 12" pizza. My husband and I use ours every day.

Conventional is more costly than a microwave. So it depends on how much you want to spend. For the cooking purpose you speak I would go with the conventional since you can't cook in a microwave, you can only heat.

Microwaves are cost efficient and time saving and easier. However, I love oven cooked much better. Oven food tastes much better. It is worth all of the cons that we can think of.

conventional oven of course! Anything can be made in a conventional oven, but a microwave still has limitations, which can be frustrating when you are expecting guests for dinner!
