We got married 6 years ago for less than $7000. This included everything - rehersal dinner (very nice steak house), caterer (cake and food for 100), photos (professional), dress (beautiful second-hand dress), tuxedos (rented), flowers, honeymoon (one week in a beachfront condo in Cozumel), and musicians. We were able to get good deals from friends and family.
Our parents offered us $3000 if we just eloped.

Saw an entertainment program (like ET or the Insider) the other day. They mentioned that the average wedding in the U.S. can cost about $27,000.
That's pretty expensive, but there are many ways of having an inexpensive wedding, you just have to search for them. It also helps if you have friends or relatives who can help you out. A friend of mine recently got married and used a couple of her aunts for things like flowers/bouquet, and alterations. And some of their college friends were the DJ and MC.
Networking and getting to know a lot of different people in different fields of work really helps out at a time like this. You may not get married right away, but it's never too soon to plan for when you do. Good luck and I hope that when you do get married, it'll be a dream come true for both of you! :-)

Well I am getting married in just over three months. We already have everything paid for (that need to be paid upfront for example deposits). But the total cost of everything is just under $3000. You can do a wedding really cheap or you can go all out and have it cost you $20,000 or more. It just depends on the kinda wedding you want.

It depends on what kind of wedding you have. You can go to teh court house and only pay a fee for your license. Or you can get married at home or at a location that belongs to family and not have to pay much as you woudl probably be doing all the decorations and planning yourself. If you have a large ceremony with many guests and a reception where you serve a full meal, it can get very pricey.

The U.S national "average" is $28,000. WHOA! That's a down payment for a house! I've seen budgets as a low as $500.00 to $33,000 +. It's about what you can comfortably afford. I would start with what you really want for your wedding, and that will give you a rough guesstimate" of the actualy cost for your dream wedding. But let me give this advice: The MOMENT you say it's for a wedding, then cost will more then triple. good luck to you. :)

22,000 now
when I got married seven years ago we spent 14,000. And we just had a basic wedding. My dress only cost $300.
That includes everything from postage, to invitations, cake, food, video, pictures, ceremony, thank you cards.. etc.
