I agree that illegal immigration is WRONG. I agree that a wall or something should be put up between the borders to help with the problem. However, on SOME occasions, I think that I would have done the same thing if I were them. Think about it, if your mom, dad, sibling, grandparent, or spouse was deathly ill and you couldn't raise enough money for the needed surgury, would you not do all that you could to save your loved one's life? I know I would. I know that this is not so in ALL cases, but in many it is. If my mom was suffering a heart attack at her house and I was informed, I would drive as fast as I could to go to be at her side and try to save her life, regardless of the speed limit and stop signs. I love my mother and will do anything for her. Many Americans (including myself) have become accustomed to and spoiled by the availability of health care. We are fortunate to have come from a "wealthy" nation. I thank God for that. But, I feel for those who are not so fortunate.

Scared to life- I DID say that I support border control. And, there are just as many Americans living tax-free working construction and all that stuff, or living off of welfare and all of that stuff that is meant to help the needy but is being drained by a bunch of lazy, unqualifying, and lying Americans. Americans are at times victims of their own lazyness. But, some illegals are paying taxes using false ID's (which I admit is illegal or wrong as is welfare and medicade fraud) anv these people cannot get their taxes back at tax time. Where is the money going?

mimilundgren, can you tell anybody what you have done to EARN the right to live in America? Most likely, you, like I, were just fortunate enough to be born in the land of opportunity. Here, where we DO have schools for ALL kids. In foreign countries that come here, IF ther are ANY schools for the children to go to, it is too expensive. Many are so poor that they HAVE to send their children to work at a young age neglecting their schooling and usually, never going back. Did they ask to be born in that situation? I doubt it.
Therefore, for many, I feel lots of compassion because of all of these luxuries we have here and I wish that their government would help them have.
If you have any ideas about how WE could possibly go about changing, for example, the Mexican government to provide for it's people so that immigration is not necessary, please let me know.
And Thank you for your opinion. :)

Less fortunate? Look they come here and give so called "cheap labor", which by the way is $10-12 tax free (I don't call that cheap), then they send all that money back to Mexico where the exchange rate benifits them so they live like Kings over their shambled surroundings. What pisses me off the most is not that they came here and jumped to the front of the line of all those waiting poor and hungry to get in legally, and not that they don't pay a dime in taxes, and not that they feed off the well-fare system, and not that some of them refuse to learn English, and not that they bring their crime rate with them, but what pisses me off terribly is that they come here and demand things from OUR government like we owe them ANYTHING, and they use our humanity against us, saying we stole land from them? I'm not racist, and I'm not Anti-immigration. I'm anti-illegal immigration, and they shot themselves in the foot with the way they acted recently.

Contrary to belief of those who don't work construction or landscaping, Americans CAN BE hard workers. In fact I lost a tooth because two "cheap" laborers wouldn't do the work and I was working right along side of them, told them if they don't keep up with me they don't get paid. So they fought me and even though I lost a tooth, I sent one of those little F***ers running like a little girl. We do work hard and America would not be where it is today were it not for hard working citizens. If Americans are so lazy, then why is it that America is an economical giant and Mexico is still a primitive almost 3rd world country with lazy idiots that kick back and drink all day(ok that was a stereotype, sorry I probably just ruined my credibility)?

Anyway don't say Amercians are spoiled. You might be spoiled, but most of us are not.

Here is a better analogy: If your company was struggling to pay your paycheck, do you think you could run to another company and get them to give you full benefits and a nice paycheck without filling out an application? Hell no you wouldn't. And as for the less fortunate, if you really want to help them, go down to your local soup kitchen and cook dinner for the guys. They'll really appreciate it. Take care of people at home first, and when no American is sleeping in the cold, then we can start looking at helping foreigners.

Here's something else-- Do you want another crowd of people to die senselessly a bloody and painful death? If not I would suggest you support border control, because at anytime, one of those terrorists could come in unbeknownst to the nation by hopping the border.

I think we've beat this issue death. None of us are listening to the opposite arguement, and it's not going anywhere. I don't know where you got the idea that there are just as many Americans working tax free. Have you ever driven by a parking lot with a bunch of Americans sitting there waiting to get work? I don't thinks so. You can't possibly live anywhere near one of the large cities where immigration is a problem. If you did you wouldn't be saying things like that, because they're just not true. I live right here in the heart of it. I live in a neighborhood, and I think that me, my next door neighbor, and one Mexican family down the street are the only legal households in the entire neighborhood. When we have problems out here, they will beg not to call the police, because they don't have papers. That means they don't work on a social security number or they wouldn't be worried about it. You don't need a social security number. The majority of them just get picked up, paid cash and dropped off. And most of them will tell you life is good back home in Mexico. I gotta give it to them for live in such tight quarters for a year at a time-

America has come way too far to say we're lazy, dishonest, and government dependant. That's not true at all. I live in a city with 3 million people, and they are really hard on homeless people here. It has inspired many of them to get up and find jobs finally. We have such a huge problem with immigration, that everyone here is just about on the same page. They've taken over entire suburbs and there's no law in those areas, because none of them can be policemen...all the citizens have picked up and moved North to get away from the crime. Anyone who says that just because they jump the border doesn't mean they're going to be criminals needs to come live here for a while.

When aliens enter a country illegally they do so to put food on the table of thier families, that is a noble thing thing to do However what if one of these aliens was a carrier of a serious disease The host nation could be faced with a catastrophic situation If you as world citizen wish to visit a foreign country you are subjected to stringent health requirements. This is to protect the citizens of the country you are visiting Illegals no matter how just thier reasons don't fullfill these medical requirements The real cause of the problem is cheap labor If these unfortunate people could'nt get work they would stop coming The real culprits are persons who hire this cheap labor

You have a point, so........ Are you willing to give up your cell phone? No? Maybe your car? Your house? I mean, there are a lot of folks in Mexico that need these things...so much more than you.

Just give them up and you'll still have all the other things...until more come. Then you'll need to give up your PC, your manicures and how about your TV. Those are all "luxuries"
anyway.

Think about it, you are so greedy. These people just want a better life, and you have it. So give it to them. Serve it up on a silver platter. They are willing to work harder than you are anyway, right? They are willing to work below minimum wage (that's too high, anyway, right?) They are willing to work without benefits (they can steal them anyway, since they are under the radar) Education is free when you don't own a home and pay property taxes.
Wow, so what is so bad about these illegal aliens? I just don't get it.

So, do you REALLY feel that much for those who are not so fortunate? Time to put up, isn't it?

Immigration used to be welcomed here in the United States because people were coming here to build a better life for themselves on their own, coming empty handed and working tirelessly to make a better life for themselves.

Today's immigrants are coming for a free hand out from a socialist system.

Every generation has had their share of immigrants that they didn't like, usually the poor and uneducated coming in and looked down upon (the Irish, the Italians, the Polish) when they first arrived. Then as they melded in with the rest of society they were accepted as Americans.

If we were a free nation again the only immigrants who would be coming to the country would be those who want to make a life for themselves on their own without anyone else's help. They would be welcomed.

How do illegals crossing the US-Mex boarder raise the $1500-3000 to pay coyotes?
How many illegals first try to immigrate legally?
The US will not be able to create 2-4million NEW low skilled jobs every single year.
We can't let everyone in. There are US citizens out of work. 1 in 5 US soldiers returning from their tour of duty, cannot find work.
The US allows millions to come legally, we need to have the control over US immigration.
The illegal population is growing faster than the US economy.

While its easy to come up with an extreme case to justify nearly any action, the case does not justify the action as a whole. Personally, I'm against illegal immigration, but not for the reasons you might expect.

These people are being taken advantage of. Many of them are defacto slaves, working for only a few dollars a day. I'm against illegal immigration just the same as I'm against importing slaves into our country (thank God that is no longer a practice). Franky, I'm willing to accept higher prices on produce or any other 'industry' that is built on this new form of slave trade. Either A, pay them minimum wage and give everyone fair rights (an impossible situation) or B, enforce immigration laws.

Let's give the American Citizens in prison and jails probation and a second chance and lock up the illegals for 5 years or 10 as the law provides.

Sure, it is understandable. I would never pretend to place myself in their shoes as if I knew what many of them had to go through to get here.

On another note however, we can't be sure how many of them are doing it because they have no other choice (i.e. dying relative, rejoin with family already here, etc). The taxpayer is fronting them over 60 billion dollars a year. Many of them feel that it is their right, and will defy any course of reason. They're crowding the schools and jails in that region. Many aren't here for any other reason except to build a fortune to take back. There's just so much to turn your head away from to glance at the moral side, but I do understand and empathize with your point of view...

We all want better schools for our children. If I put my child in a different school in my district than the one assigned to my house, because it has better test scores, my child will be kicked out as soon as he is discovered, regardless of how many years he attended and whether all of his friends are now in that school. And we are legal citizens who pay taxes that subsidize the poor in the schools in our district.

Schools in our border states are failing our children legally here, and with underfunded Social Security for retirement, parents are taking desperate measures even here to try to assure a college education for their children. It is irresponsible to let more expensive and difficult to teach ESL students swamp our education system when it already cannot provide for our own children. It is not as if there were 'extra' to go around.

Furthermore, every bit as much as the 'employment magnet' the benefits for illegals entice more to enter the country illegally.

They are stealing benefits subsidized for our middle class for people legally here. At the same time they are degrading education and upward mobility for our own children.

I can feel sorry for their situation, but we cannot take on the poor of the world. We can't even adequately take care of our own.

of course, but we can't support 20 million illegals who won't pay taxes, and burden our tax system, they are not immunized, and many are criminals. Gee, do you think that "Al'quita" hasn't picked up on the fact that you can sneak across the US border dressed as mexicans with no papers and get in here ? It is a very dangerous time we live in my friends, very soon there will be a boom, and anyone not wearing "SUN BLOCK 1 million" is gonna be having a really bad day ! State of emergency ! close the borders for now, USE OF DEADLY FORCE SHOULD BE AUTHORIZED !
