Pilate's is no doubt far superior to just simply walking about but if you join a beginner's class and have the fortitude to advance in these highly beneficial exercises by all means do so --- it does require more than a fair amount of commitment. good luck.

A combination of both would be the best exercise plan. Walking is good for cardio exercise. Pilates is resistance exercise--weight training using your body weight as the resistance. So walking will help you burn fat and pilates will help you build muscle. The combination of both is perfect for fat loss.

Depends on what you want to work out. Pilates is generally a full body workout, whereas walking is only a leg workout. Pilates is used for overall muscle tone, whereas walking is designed against osteoperosis.
