that other answer is right... it depends on what kind of travel you are talking about.... if you want peace and quiet and sheer beauty AND modern conveniences you have to see luang prabang laos. even the silly little tourist trips to the big waterfalls or the buddha caves are great. get up early and walk the town at sunrise. find a back street cafe and wait for the orange robed monks to come by. go to the open market to see whats for sale. then look at those buildings! I love thailand, but you really should see luang prabang laos.

It's depend on what kind of travel u r looking for. The destinations in Laos are less developed in terms of facilities but more natural without makeup. But it's worth to try something different.

loved Laos, would love to go back, stayed 6hrs by boat upriver from Luang Prabang in a new bamboo hut with western toilet on the banks of the river, great food ,friendly people, kids showed us an unexploded bomb near some caves and the next day we heard explosions and were told the were clearing bombs ,so bit of an adventure holiday but we had no trouble travelling or buying things and the scenery was amazing.Would love to have spent more time in Luang Prabang. The only worry is lack of Medical services-you get flowen to Thailand if its serious. We found Thailand to Touristy but it depends on what sort of holiday you want.

Different lifestyle, different culture and different sights. So depends on what you want. These are 2 different countries with different development. If you worry about amenities, stick to Thailand. If you are into exploring, then go Laos.
