It's a myth. I saw this on MythBusters

They even put a spoon in the microwave..and saw no microwave radiation on it, in other words, the spoon was as safe as it was before they put it in. Totally safe, it's a myth.

The microwave has been around for about 30 years. Besides, the radar from some aircraft is as strong (if not, stronger) than microwaves. As well, microwaves are nothing more than stronger radio signals. At most, the damage would be a burn, but there should not be significant radiation damage.

NO. NOT ANYMORE. THE OLDER MICROWAVES WERE HARMFUL AND COULD CAUSE A PERSONS HEART PACEMAKER TO FAIL. BUT, THOSE PROBLEMS HAVE BEEN RESOLVED, SO IF YOU HAVE A MICROWAVE MADE AFTER 1985 IT IS SAFE

The whole point of using the microwave is that it's fast. What the hell can it do to you in that short period of time?!

Yes if you stand right infront of it! The microwaves ARE radiation. It doesn't hurt you to consume the food cooked in one (unless the food isn't cooked properly).
