occasionally when i am awake, the muscle of my right eye always twitches, two to four times each interval... what sign could that be? it is not my eyelid that is twitching but the muscle of the lower eye... it is freaking me out since it is happening more often everyday...

It can be very freaky when this happens. I suffer from it myself sometimes when I am stressed or tired. There is no cure that I know of that will get rid of it. but I find if I gently rub the area it calms down after a while.
Basically it is just a muscle spasm. We get it sometimes in other parts of the body all the time but don't necessarliy notice.
To put your mind totally at ease, pop to your local optician. They will be able to check the health of not just your eye but your blood pressure and other health issues too.............. unbelievable but true. The eyes tell us so much!!
It may be that you have slight eye strain too. You may need to have a pair of low prescription glasses which will aid your vision and take the stress from your eyes.
Have a couple of days away from the computer if you can. or make sure you take lots of breaks away from it. This can sometimes cause slight strain if you are sat too close or for a long period of time.

Good luck

LACK OF SLEEP AND IMMENSE STRESS. I had this problem when it came to taking finals or writing out my graduate thesis.
Do not sweat it! It has nothing to do with your control. I will say that it is very bothersome that you think everyone and their mother can see it, but in reality no matter how immense it might feel to us, it is really a small, gently involuntary twitch and that comes and goes. I would recommend several hours of sleep more a night and relaxation time for you.

That is often a direct cause of stress. When I was a rebellous teenager acting up, it made my stepmother have a twitching eye. We then began using "eye twitch" as a means of describing how stressful a particular situation was.

My eye does that too sometimes...it has been going on for a while now. I think it is either a muscle spasm or a nerve...b/c you have alot of nerves there.
I wouldn't worry too much about it though...and I read the other reply's saying that it means you don't get enough sleep...that's not true...lol...I get about 11-12 hours of sleep and mine still does it... :)

Not enough sleep....or too much caffeine? Ask your physician....is it just the eye? If you suffer from high blood pressure.....this could be early sign of a stroke....better go to the doctor soon! Let someone drive you there.

I was told that when your eye twitches it means you're tired

It's just an involuntary muscle spasm. It's nothing to be worried about and will go away on its own.
