Why do people get freaked out when I tell them I met my boyfriend (of two years) on the internet? And why before I moved to live with him people always asked me if I had met him prior to moving? (I'm from NC he's from AZ)

Most people are small minded when it comes to these things. I've met a lot of friends on the internet, one of my best friends is a woman who I first chatted to through email then messenger before I came here, now we go to karaoke every week and still chat online all the time. For me meeting on the net is fine but not everyone out there is honest.... Hope you have a long and happy relationship, ignore those who can't see past how you met. (or you could freak them out more and tell them it was a 'salt grain collecting site' you met on!)

There are a lot of scary people on the internet these days... that could be one reason. Another is that some people don't think you can build a romance over the internet. My friends have shown me that it is possible. One of them talked to a girl from another country for 2 years, then went over and married her. He brought her back and they've been married for 3 years now... Happier than ever. As long as you are safe when meeting people off the internet, I think it's ok.

Maybe you've heard the horror stories on television of women getting raped by an online lover.
They're more than likely concerned for you, hoping you won't meet the same fate. Maybe bring someone along to visit with you, and hang out with the two of you for a bit, just to make sure nothing's up.

I guess people are still not yet prepared to hear that its possible to get partners online, my friends also felt the same when I told them that I met my boyfriend in webdatedotcom... They thought I was crazy but my boyfriend is a fantastic guy, and they believed me when I introduced him to them...

hey im in az. the inter net gets juged as the youll meet someone scary and they will kill you. but thats not always the case. dont worry about those poeple just be happy with him

i guess they just dont believe that internet dating can worked or they're just being too old fashioned about it.....
