You could use a premium such as my favorite Casa Noble but some will say this is only for sipping... so if you don't want to spend a lot of money I would look for something less expensive but 100%. There is this new tequila at the liquor store that is 100% and under 20.00 called Tres Alegres Compadres that I tried last weekend in Margaritas and it was excellent.

But if money is not an objection CASA NOBLE

The absolute best for the money? Tarantula! It's a milder tequila with citrus liquor. Straight up, it tastes like a strong margarita. It's the perfect mixer!

It's also cool because it's blue, so when you mix in the sours mix, it makes a green margarita. Very festive!

Best margarita recipe?

1 part Roses' lime juice
1 part orange liquor (Grand Marnier, Blue Curacao, etc.)
3 parts sours mix (preferably Holland House brand)
3 parts tequila (Tarantula if you can)

If you're making a margarita any tequila will do. Though I'd never drink Cuervo for any reason straight, it makes a decent margarita.

If you want a tequila that is good for sipping, try Herra Durra.

Cuervo is CRAP!!! I bartended for years. It depends what kind of margarita? traditional, fruit, cadillac, perfect, frozen, on the rocks, etc.??? Which is it? Here is the best, relatively inexpensive margarita:

In a pint glass-on the rocks-salted rim

2oz. Sauza Tres Generaciones Silver
1/2 oz. triple sec (Cointreau)
fresh sour mix
floater of Grand Marnier
garnish lime wedge. MMMMMMMMMMMM.....my mouth is watering.

patron!!! Here is a good one:

2 oz Patron Silver Tequila
3/4 oz Citronge
1 oz of small limes hand squeezed
2 oz fresh lemon sour

In an ice filled mixing glass, add above ingredients. Shake well and strain into ice filled glass with salt on the rim. Garnish with a wedge of lime and a straw. Enjoy!

Sauza Hornitos. It is an inexpensive, smooth, silver tequila.
Best advice, use Cointreau instead of Triple Sec.
Serve it straight up, with no ice.
Use fresh lime juice and a splash of OJ.
Make sure the bartender shakes the $#(& of out it.
It is called a "Tejita"

Jose Cuervo Gold.

For shots (or sipping, which is how I like to drink it), Herradura Anejo. Mmm....tequila...

Jose Cuervo Gold for the least expensive. Anything more expensive is good.
