I live in Bangkok. Are you here now? I can give you lots of advice on things to do and see. One of my favorite sights is the Jim Thompson House. Email me lizzy.foerster@gmail.com. I can seriously giv eyou like 1000 things to do and see.
Go buy yourself a travel guide too. One of my favs is called "Bangkok's 25 Best", but there are lots, and I think all are good. Where are you staying? Get a hold of me, and good luck

Catch a boat taxi/bus and go as far as you can, to the place where some real Thais live. Enjoy the site and sounds along the way.
You can go to wat, but the twist is to find one where there is a fair (not very hard to find). They may have games, music, movies, traditional Thai or Chinese plays. A lot of activities start before dark. Another twist is to find a wat with ordination ceremony, etc.
Go to the Rose Garden and enjoy cultural shows.
Fly kites or ride bicycles at Sa nam laung park, next to the Grand Royal Temple/Palace.
Go to a cooking class.
Go to a tailor and have reasonably priced dress or outfit made.
Have a Thai traditional massage or go to a nice spa.

You have to check out a trip to Kanchanbanui (not sure spelling and Wat suan in think... ie Tiger temple where orhan tigeres were raised by monks and you can go meat and play, and hug and cuddle and take walkies...
FULL GROWN, FULLY ARMED, SOBER BIG FURRY THI *****
TIGERS and not end up katomeat...
Amazing !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
But DON'T Go via any tourist TAT especailly not via Kho SAN ROAD they all rip offs. Go via Thai busses and VIP busses always... much better safer and comfy.
Then catch A Bhat Bus (soungtoumn think its pronounced) (ie covered pick up truck) to go to the emple and the several km walk up track. Make a camera cleared out and video if you can...
Serious you get to play with the unchained happy tigers.
Mix with the locals like outside the malls with the break dancing teenagers. Kite flying or water fights.
Try the monorail... and avoid tuk tuks especailly free tours...
With taxis always METER!!!.
The rose Gardens looked good with spectactular shows with elephants.

Go watch a Thai cultural dance performance, go canal boating in the surrounding areas, go visit a floating market, go see an elephant show, go watch muay thai (Thai kick-boxing), go to the zoos, go to the Grand Palace, go to the Water Park, go golfing. If you tire, you can just head to Pattaya or Hua Hin beach resorts and chill.
