I am pale with short, medium brown hair. I want highlights but I don't know how to go about it and what my base colour should be. help!!!

BETTER TO HAVE A PROFESSIONAL GIVE YOU YOUR TIPS AND EVEN HELP YOU DO THE CHANGE FOR THE FIRST TIME THEN YOU CAN LEARN AND WATCH HOW SHE DOES IT AND NEXT TIME YOU KNOW!!!

what color are your eyes? .... OK...... blue eyes, pale skin.. definitely you want to go lighter never darker .... you can keep the medium brown as the base and add medium to light red highlights or a medium ash blonde highlight... unless you are feeling really daring, and I do think you could pull this off with the blue eyes and pale skin, use a medium red to strawberry blonde as the base and go with golden to light blonde as the highlight... keep in mind that red is a more unusual color than brunette or blonde , so it will be very striking on you and gain you plenty of attention ! have fun with whichever way you go !

When you have fair skin you want to avoid dark colors, highlights are a good idea but you have to retouch them about every 4 weeks ( lots of work and money) And there's also a rule go lighter in the summer and darker in the winter. I'm sure that when you go to a salon they will be able to help you choose a color that would suit you best.

I would do a nice rich brown color for your base and nice white blonde highlights all through the 2 colors will lokk really nice together and on you and your blue eyes will look bigger and prettier!!

take large photographs of yourself
then use crayons to colour your hair differently in each
put up the photographs on some website for all to see
and then we can all help you in selecting the best hair colour for you
