I don't think cats understand religion. But, you can give it a try.

I think your cat knows more about buddhism than you do.... it sleeps alot stares into blank spaces for prolonged amounts of time. and eats when it gets hungry... it chases a ball of yarn or a mouse at least once a day and BAM cat's life is at harmony with the universe..... I think the more appropriate question would be "How do I become More like my cat?!?!" Hoe this sheds some light on the mysterious goings on in a cats tiny head.... Just know that the cats head is full of nothing as far as the cat is concerned. Only thing it knows is instinct and that you feed it once a day and clean up it's **** box.
Good Luck with the cat thing I'm sure your cats really looking forward to you learning to not annoy it. ;)

Feed it 100 mice and then rub his/her belly... light some incense for the proper effect.... Then slowly wisper gibberish into its ears....If he dont understand, then i guess he cant learn to be a buddism.... If you feel you have not done this task right......shave your cat and start all over again!.....

Your cat already practices it. It only requires sleeping, eating, passing waste and living. It was the Lhammas who changed what the Buddha found after his death. The meaning of life is to walk on in life. It's not about a bunch of dancing Buddhas that you meet when you die.

You could try reading from the Teachings of Buddha to your cat. I gave the copy I `borrowed' from a Tokyo hotel room to a friend, a few years ago; perhaps he's reading it (to his cat). :-)

Cats and all animals instinctively know that they are created by God, the Christian God that is. Just the complexity of their bodies should prove that God is creator.

Your cat was probably a bodhisattva in another lifetime. You needn't bother teaching it anything at all.

Uh, don't. Cats don't need trivial human riligions when they can sleep and do whatever they want.
