Every one has right to choose, prophets only deliver the message of God, they never forced people to change the religion. They invited them politely as knowing the truth is the right of every person as well. After the message was delivered all people were free for their choice and there is no compulsion. Similarly if some one gets the truth, this is good for him/her and it makes no difference for me.

Christianity and Islam (along with Judaism) have very similar core beliefs. They believe in (for the most part) in the same teachings and even believe in the existence of the same people throughout text. Minor differences in each text and our interpretations have impacted in the creation of 3 major religions. Since the religions are again for the most part similar, one can easily switch between them. As for the fact that he hated it before. This may not be the fault of religion but rather the fault of society. The society we are raised in influence many of our radical likes and dislikes. Maybe now he realizes which one suits him best and makes him happy. In my opinion it doesn't matter what religion you are as long as you have good values, believe in the existence of a supernatural power, and have the ability to chose right from wrong (that's just my opinion). I hope i could help in anyway

As a Muslim, I'm sadden to hear when a fellow Muslim decides to give a great religion up. Personally, I have seen many Christians become Muslims and vice-versa.
It is however clear to me, when you see the kind of people who become Muslim and the kind of people who become Christians.
Many of those who revert to Islam are seekers after truth. I've seen it done by teachers, scholars, motivators, priest and even nuns.
Many Muslim that left Islam for Christianity, that I know of, are youth, young professionals, blue colar workers etc.
Here we can see that those who seek Islam, seek truth in religion and those who seek Christianity, seek freedom (from laws in Islam), enjoyment and entertainment, cos that's what Christianity offers.

I only want to say one thing about those two sites listed above. They are completely false and give a completely wrong picture of Islam. These two sites are well known for twisting things to fit their agendas. The prophet of doom one actually claims muslims are told to worship the moon, when the Quran itself states in many places that muslims should not prostrate or pray to the moon since it is not the creator.

I think you just need to look at Afghanistan recently to see how Muslims feel about one of their own converting to Christianity, they wanted to kill him! If your friend really feels strongly about it, respect his decision and stick by him. Unless of course he's a Muslim in Afghanistan then I'd say help him sneak out the country :P

I see it as someone who has made a personal decision and its not my place to judge them so I should support them in whatever decision it is and other than that butt out. (Oh yeah, and this is just from my stand point, not the view of all Christians)
