Thanks almost as good as:

And He gave some to be apostles, some prophets some evangelists, some pastors and TEACHERS, for the perfecting of the saints… Ephesians 4:11
Once you are saved you do have less need for evangelists and preachers and more need for teachers, prophets, and apostles to this I agree. Besides the pastor in the modern church has become nothing more than a hired PR man for the church to raise money, raise the spiritual pride of its members, lessen doubt and honest discussion and deceive people with false promises, a false gospel and almost always a false Jesus. The ol’ atheist Ingersoll would have had a hey day with modern Christianity, and rightfully so.

An intelligent person demands an answer now. He or she doesn't want to be preached at, that distracts the focus of the goal, to get to the answer/destination the fastest or shortest route. Impatience is a by product of not knowing. Preaching is a waste of time to the intelligent they already know what they don't know. They want to find (someone)"teachers" that know what they don't know that they don't know. Which is pretty darn intelligent! Find out what you don't know or find someone who does know so they can teach you. Don't preach, learn more! Get out of my way I'm on a quest for peace of mind and fulfillment of spirit!

Robert G. Ingersoll needs Bible education badly. Foolish quote from a foolish man.

I support the quote based on my own personal opinion that intelligent people secretly believe that most religion is bogus. We like religion for its morals, but some of that stuff is just like a fairy tale. Evolving from a monkey sounds more logical than appearing on the earth by special powers of a god. Religion stores balance in our world so it's best that it belongs.

I think that it's a good quote for Athiests and Agnostics, but religious people may take offense to it. It's saying that if you're smart, religion and preachers are obsolete. It really just depends on how you look at it. I am an Agnostic, so this is a good quote for me.

Well, I've certainly found it to be true in my experience. Certainly there are many, many intelligent Christians, but in my personal circle of friends and family, the more intelligent people are agnostic (at best).

Insightful. As intelligence grows, pride fuels the want for more information, not inspiration.

A good pastor preaches AND teaches, to reach everyone in his congregation.
