It's my girl's birthday, I don't have confectioner's sugar...therefore I can't make my own...she will be home soon and I have to get the cake ready (write happy birthday on it now)!!! So...how do I use some frosting to make it work?

You don't need to do anything to it. If it's vanilla (or another light color) you can add a couple drops of food coloring to make it a different color from the cake.

Put the frosting in the corner of a ziploc bag and twist the bag at the top of the frosting so the bag is really tight around the glob of frosting. Now cut off the corner of the ziploc bag. (Remember, you can make it bigger, but not smaller...cut a very small corner at first) Squeeze the bag and write on the cake. It's just like if you're writing with a tube of toothpaste.

use plain sugar and make a carmel sauce, or add food die to your frosting, you can thin it out with a little bit of dairy-milk, cream, melted butter.
