ok,, this is the law.You are entitled to have the infomation kept from your parents even if you are a minor,,however the legal loop-hole that will get your parents the info,is the fact that ,,whoever makes the appointment and PAYS for the visit is entitled to the doctors report.

Now if it a PG thing then you want to go to another source that gives the test to lets say younger and under age girls. Places like Crosslines ,Redcross that is the only way to have the info.kept secret.

doesn't matter if your a minor or not trust me the doctor will not tell your parents if they say are you sexually active and you say yes i am then thats the end of it, unless you say no,but i was raped or molestored or something like that then they will talk to the police. but the doctor will NOT tell your parents that your having sex no matter how old you are minor or not, if you want it then its not rape, unless it comes out that ur having sex with someone who is like over 18 then theres problems. but trust me the doctor will NOT tell ur parents.

and for the person above if that happend to u, than u know u can sue, because that is patient doctor conf aswell

Depends on your age. If you are over the legal age of consent in your state, you shouldn't have a problem if you tell your doctor that you'd like this kept confidential. With the HIPPA laws, your physician CANNOT reveal this information unless they believe that there is illegal sexual contact such as statutory rape, sex abuse, etc.

If your healthcare provider believes that there has been some type of illegal sexual contact, they are required by law to contact authorities about it.

I'm assuming you meant to say that you're a MINOR (under age) & figuring that you're pregnant? You CAN say please don't tell your mom, but if you're a minor, it may be against the law for the doctor to keep it from your mom. If it's not against the law for him to keep it a secret, he may choose to tell her anyway, depending on his morals (beliefs). It's been known to happen. If it is a law that says he's to keep it private (keep it between the patient & the doctor... keep it a secret), when you're a minor, then he's supposed to keep it private.

There is doctor patient confidentiality even with minors. If you have a desperate problem like AIDS or pregnancy I think the doctor will probably have to share it with your parents. If you just want to talk to him/her about general sexual matters I think they will keep your confidentiality.

The doc would violate Dr-patient confidentiality if they tell, but ask anyway to make sure they understand the sitch.

What are you not wanting them to tell? If you're pregnant, I don't believe they can tell, but you need to tell someone. An adult you trust, maybe they can help tell your mom? You're going to need to start doctors visits, so unless you think she will flip out completely, please tell your mom.If you think she'll flip, find someone to help you tell her.
