Why is it so easy for some women to get into these quick&easy money jobs-i.e. stripping, prostitution, drug dealing, etc, etc, etc. And then so hard to get out of them? How does one deal with the nightmares that come after, and more importantly, how can one move on with her life afterwards? Is it possible to live with such a terrible mistake?

But what if I did get out of it, now it just haunts me? I'm going to school to get the real job, but the past won't let me go.

I know this might sound impossible for someone who is in that situation but the best thing is to find a better environment to be in and learn to accept your past and forgive yourself. Because no one can live life backwards, so we all have to put our faces forward and move on no matter how dark and miserable our pasts were. Maybe learning about religion or developing a hobbie in which one can express one's feelings such as painting or singing or writing. There's a future for everyone and it'd be too sad to waste life away regretting that which cannot be changed.

Sometimes it is easy because we have no self respect.. somewhere in our lives we learned to believe that we are less than we really are. So therefore in life we become the "bottom of the barrel" thinking this is the best we can do.. I am still trying to keep my head above water.. changing your contacts will help.. believe it or not there are people that will love u no matter where you have been.. unfortunately the people u thought were friends before will only pull you down as u try to move up. U have to "change your mind" not everyone is a creep or desperate drug-addict..u will meet people that are normal and true and believe it or not they make up about 80% of the population..u just have'nt allowed yourself to swim with that school of fish...

Getting out only requires taking the plunge. Give up the quick money and get a "real" job, a restraining order, a bus ticket, or whatever you need. Then use federal aid to go to college, and make more than 10 dollars an hour. It's easy in the first place, to get into that stuff, because men rule the world, and women are our weakness. Use it for you, not against you!

One must keep distancing themselves from the past, keep going, don't look back. I wonder if there is some sort of support group one could join? Counseling? I'm sorry I can't give more specific advise, but I wish luck for anyone in this position.
