Sounds like he may have got into a fight and been bitten by another cat. It could also be a "wobble"---to put it nicely--a fly larvae.

Ragdolls are beautiful cats. The hair is great. Your cat may have become stressed out if it isn't use to being outdoors. I wanted to know if the cat has all of its shots and if it has been treated for fleas. Here is why I ask, feline leukemia causes hair to bald and shed horribly. Your cat is not young and I would defiantly make sure it isn't cancer. The reason I asked about fleas is because cats will scratch the fur out when trying to itch where the flea is biting. If it wasn't on a flea preventive on it manage to find its way outside it may have picked up a flea or two. I would set two appointments. One with a groomer and one with a vet.

Do not take any chances , if you can not get an appointment for tomorrow with your regular veterinarian you should call around town and find one that will see your precious kitty on short notice. If you cant find one then you should show up in the Vet's office with your cat and just wait for them to work you in, they will do that in most cases. Your kitty may have only gotten into a fight, and lost the hair that way, but it is always best to make sure .Good Luck sweety!!

Cats are super curious. Especially the ones who dart for the door when opening. The missing hair....well worms, no. If they were. He or she had them before they ventured outside. Keep your eye on Ragdoll for a few days. Don't worry too much and if you see Ragdoll acting unusual. Then off to the Vet I would go.

I had a cat once that this happened to and it was an injury. Then the wound scabbed over and some seeping from the healing wound caused the hair to clump then after the wound healed and it come time for the scab to fall off it did and the hair come off with it then the hair grew back and the cat was fine.

It is probably nothing, very unlikely that its worms. Sometimes stress can cause a patch of hair to fall out. Sometimes the cats own attempts at grooming can cause hair to come out, sometimes its just the cats body trying to get rid of something that isn't righ (like the mat). If there is nothing else going on and everything else seems ok, he's eating, he's drinking, he's acting normal, not hiding....then just keep your eye on him.

Could be any number of things. I had a Siamese disappear for about three weeks one time. It had gotten up in the roof of an abandoned apartment complex next to where I lived. About a week after we finally got him down all his hair started falling out. He went almost totally bald. The vet said it was a fungus be must have got when he was stuck in the roof.

I would try to get her to the vet. It could be ringworm. If it is you and anyone else touching her could also develop ringworm. This is easy to fix with the right medicine. If it is hot where you live it could also be fly larvae. I know that sounds gross but if their fur is left dirty the flies will actually lay eggs there and they will hatch . Though this usually happens on an open wound. I'm sure he will be fine once he gets some medical attention. Good luck.

If you are going to have it out in a week--they can check for roundworm. That is a skin fungus that can lead to hair loss. However, cats do periodically SHED and he may be just shedding and where the mat is at. Good luck with kitty. If you are real worried take him to your local vet to have him checked out.
