To be honest I don't how you could believe in either, but if you believe in one why couldnt you believe in the other?
If you are willing to believe in something without any factual evidence of it's existence (supernatural things) then that pretty much leaves you open to believe whatever the **** people tell you to believe. Whether its an old book or a scary movie or a ghost story someone told you.
If you are going to just believe anything then why not just believe everything.

When Satan told the first lie to Adam and Eve in Genesis 3:15, which was if they ate the fruit (not an apple in particular, but fruit), of the tree of the knowledge of good and bad that they would not die like God said. Adam and Eve ended up dieing and us too because of it.
Ever since that time, Satan has his demons pretending to be the spirits (ghosts) of those people that have died which continues his original lie. Actually, the Bible teaches that when we die, we don't know anything anymore and all thoughts do perish and it says that the soul that is sinning, it itself shall die.
I would like to clarify a point that one of your other answerers made. The Holy Ghost is not Jesus at all. There are three things, God, Jesus, and Holy Ghost (sometimes called the Holy Spirit). The Holy Ghost or The Holy Spirit is God's active force which causes HIS will to be done exactly as God desires it to be done. Jesus is God's son, the first born of all creation and the Bible says that all other things were created by Him and for him. Jesus acted as a master worker, sort of like a sub-contractor, you might say doing His Father's will in everything, but Jesus and the Holy Ghost or the Holy Spirit are not one in the same thing. They are separate.

When you are thirsty, that means there is water. When you are hunger that means there is food. People from the start of time have been looking for a god and some making one up. And if not then how could u explain the ski and stars and how come everything if but perfectly. There is a god above all this, thinking about it a lot can tare your brain cause God is something to hard for anyone's brain to explain, God is something that we humans cant understand perfectly cause we are not smart enough and I believe god meant that, so he could see how loves him the most how could live believing that he is there was out seeing him or perfectly understanding him. And if you can believe in god then you can believe that he can make anything.

Everyone obviously has a very personal take on this. I believe that there are spirits among us whose energy is stuck in a different plane and sometimes those planes are intertwined somehow which is when we see them. Those spirits are lost and are stuck. They are mostly harmless, residual energy, like something caught on film (if that makes ANY sense to you) BUT I also believe that there are poltergeists, or demonic spirits that were never of the physical world. It would be hypocritical of me to believe in them (EVIL) without believing that there was an opposite (GOD) there cannot be one without the other. Many psychic mediums and ghost hunters feel very protected (and I believe they are) by their faith in God during their work...sorry this is so long,

I Live on F.E. Warren AFB. I am a Christian. I know there are ghost (Spirits) The city of Cheyenne, WY was built around this base. The base was put here to protect the rail road from attacks by Native Americans. There is a lot of history here. Alot of people have had traumatic experiences here and have died here. I have seen spirits here in my home. I also have taken photos where there are unexplained faces here. For a good reference on this matter refer to Rocky Mountain Paranormal and look for a story about a haunted home on F.E. Warren AFB. The person who had this experience here is a great pal of mine. Also there is a retired Col. (Who's name I will not say) Who could tell a great number of stories about spirits here. He is also a President of a LDS Ward in the State of Wyoming.

I dunno. But I know that ghosts do exist. Actually they probably aren't ghosts rather spirits of un rested souls. That does seem crazy, but I swear I have seen my grandmother a few times. she's been gone for 27 yrs and I still feel that sometimes I can see her when Im over my dads. My sister swears that my grandfather was in the hospital room when my grandma was dying. So i guess you would have to see a ghost to actually believe in them. Also God is something that you know is actually there.

Its called Faith. And Robert how can you believe in Jesus and not God? That makes no sense at all. As for ghost, I don't know about that but there sure seems to be a lot of unanswered questions and unexplained phenomena.

God is good spirit. Ghosts are bad spirits.
Spirit(s) - a terminology given to an imaginary concept which can explain all the events which we can not explain by our existing knowledge. Rather, we ourshelves explain it assuming the existence of spirit.
So, if you need to have explanation on some event which you were not able to justify by your existing knowledge, then assume / imagine exisitence of some spirit who / which causes / responsible for that event. If you are satisfied to your imagination, then unknowingly you have started beliving in spirits. if it was good one, then you believed in god, else the the ghosts!
To believe you need to be faithful to your own imaginative ideas!

I believe in GOD because of all the miracles he has done for me. Including the baby in my belly that I was told last year I could never have.
Ghost are mearly the souls of our departed loved ones. Some may linger around for a while after death, but they will all eventually find there away home.
