I suppose it could happen but I take full advantage of the rest areas provided generally as you cross a state line. It is a good idea to get out and walk around for about 10 minutes. Often you will find helpful advice on things to do in the area if you plan to ever return and the location of resturants if you are hungry. I would much rather extend the time of my trip than risk an accident. Your body is trying to tell you to take a break so listen to it next time and avoid the discomfort and risk of a wreck. Also I figured this up in college and it is probably generally still true. Any trip that would take you more than 6 hours to complete would be more cost effective if you flew by airplane(faster too and less prone to accidents). At 8 hours it even pays to rent a car once you get there. Unless of course you are on a one way trip and intend to stay for an extended period of time.

Yea it happens to everybody eventually, depends on the particular persons body type but everyone is mortal. Its because your muscles are being held in basically the same position for a long time and the blood is not circulating like it does when you are moving about. The best way to prevent it is to stop frequently, depending on how often you get it changes how often to stop. Move about when you stop, do some stretches (by the way dont roll your neck its damaging, just stetch it from side to side then back and forth.) Jump about a bit if you want to keep you nice and awake. Hope I helped
