They can sense fear. So they can't necessarily sense dog lovers but they can sense the fear from someone who is not so much a dog lover.

Many people assume dogs have a "sixth sense" but what they are is masters of reading body language and facial expressions. They can tell by your body language if you are comfortable with them or are giving off nervous signals. They can tell by the tone of your voice or the look on your face, whether or not you are receptive to them.

Dog-lovers are rarely afraid of dogs. They show no fear so the dog is comfortable around these people. Other people who are afraid of dog give off fear and it scares the dog.

Have you ever had a sense when someone didn't like you? Well, pets have the same kind of sense. They can tell when someone doesn't really like them and react on it.

Whether you know it or not , emotions do give off a scent . You have heard of the scent of fear I'm sure. Dogs can smell your love for them just as well as they can smell the fear you have for them.

animals respond to body language--they communicate alot thru bodylanguage. They can tell by the way a person "acts" around them how they are. They are very persceptive.
