If the cat is shedding ALL the time- it may be a sign of illness or malnutrition- obviously if you always ensure your cat has access to food yet doesn't eat- that can be a sign of illness as well...
But if your cat just sheds occasionally (such as during change of seasons) and so forth. Then the best way to help is to brush regularily. Depending on the length of the cat's hair- you may have to brush once, twice or three times a week.

There are certain foods that help with the sheading and if you brush your cat everyday it will also help.

A lot of times when cats (or dogs) shed, it could be due to a vitamin deficiency. I'm not sure what you are feeding your cats, but you can either check with the petstore such as PetSmart or with your vet. They can usually recommend a balanced food for your pets that will help control shedding if not eliminate it altogether.

Use a comb once a day in the morning
or evening, bonding experience for
you and your cat. I find when the cat
is stressed after a bath, more
hair loss. More hair loss may occur
from the back of cat.

Brush them with a soft brush for kitties, but get a wide tooth cheapo comb for tails and longer haired cats. Just be gentle and dont pull so hard that their eyes get sucked into their heads-cat skin is extremely sensitive and can tear easily, and you can get sliced to ribbons by your loving kitty kat!
I have five cats, one is 20 years old. They are all mushy kats since they all now love to be brushed. It is also a way to teach your cat to trust you.

Shedding is actually a sign of poor nutrition. Talk to your vet, they will tell you what you need to give her. Brushing doesn't help stop the shedding, it just gets the already shedded hair off of her.

Sometimes a change in their food can help, or brushing them. If they are leaving hair on cloths, you can use Bounce Dryer sheets to pull the hair off of the clothing.

you cant do anything besides brush him or her. If the cat is long-haired, brush the cat daily. if the cat is short haired, brush them once to three times a week.
