Middle age crisis, is when you're at the age where just about everything you should have accomplished, should have been accomplished or right on the horizon, otherwise it's unlikely you'll get that goal. Yes women get it too, in different ways. Men are thought sexy at that age, women just in the last 5 years or so are being respected for being sexy at that age. Prior it was the stereotype "guy gets fast car, new girl and woman gets dumped with the kids." Well the standards have changed, older women are sexier, guys are into the kids and not willing to give them up so quickly; guys are beginning to appreciate the wisdom that a woman their own age brings. I suppose you'll always have the fast car syndrome, but boys...?

"Middle Age Crisis" is a phenomenon that occurs when you reach a certain time in life when you realize you finiteness, your successes and losses, and miss the "safety' of childhood or the excitement of youth.
Some men try to make up for what they feel they have lost, or "missed" in their lives, so far, by acting out in ways that are not age appropriate.
Yes, it can affect women, too. In women we men just write it off to "hormones" and ignore the emotional needs of women to fulfill their dreams, too.

Middle age crisis affects anyone who can't accept the fact that their 20-something years are long gone and they can't be repeated.

Yeah men usually buy a new car.
Women usually cut their hair short or get a tattoo.
Either way they act about 20 years old for a while.
And I believe they call it mid life crisis.
