First of all, I believe a person is not possessed by the devil himself, but instead by demons he sends out. Demons are all around waiting for their opportunity to pick on someone. They can not read a persons mind, but they know a persons weaknesses. That's why a person falls into the same sinful traps over and over again. Once a person identifies the tactics the enemy they can overcome their weaknesses. Of course, identifying your weaknesses is the most difficult part since you must die to your own selfish desires (which are really the idols in your life). Repenting for your sins is also very important because God gave his only son Jesus Christ so we will be forgiven. Sometimes a demon-possessed person is so possessed they can only be set free by a person that has been given a gift by God to drive out demons through the blood of Jesus Christ. So yes, I do believe there is a God and there is the devil.

When a Christian receives Christ as their personal Lord and Savior, the Holy Spirit enters that Christian's body, soul and spirit. God has claimed that person for His own and as a result, demons cannot occupy the same place as the Holy Spirit. Satan knows this and that is why he tries so hard to get to people first and have his demons or demonic influence control or affect that person.
Some cases of demoniacal possession in the Bible (Matt. 12:25-30; Mark 5:1-20; Luke 4:35; 10:18) ^_^

Bodies have been exhumed from the Salem witch period occuring in 1692. These bodies had traces of ergot in there stomachs. Ergot is a poisoning found in various types of bread and rye. It is the main ingredient in LSD (Lysergic Acid Diethylamide), and is attributed to the strange occurrences as described by the courts of that time.

The reason this was discovered was when, during investigations into the validity of demonic possession, it was logically presumed that people may have been induced by something they had eaten. Since this was a common occurrence in animals as well, it was presumed that what people and animals alike were eating was wheat. People also grew their wheat in boggy marshes, giving rise to bacteria. Animals were known to behave strangely as if rabid, and people had visions of seeing nonexistent animals, snakes, etc, as well as other hallucinatory visions, similiar to the effects of LSD.

I do not believe in demonic possessions. Quite frankly, I think the whole idea is preposterous. Selfishness is the only thing you could attribute to evil. There is no God. There is no Satan. There is no Zeus, and there is no Santa Claus. There are only lonely and vacant human beings with fantastic imaginations that they purport to be reality in an attempt to fill up the loveless void within them. The absence of meaning belies a reason to exist, and that is a frightening thought. People need saving, so we've fashioned a savior, and put a neat little bow around him. Find meaning in your life, but don't lie to yourself.

It's more complicated than that... and not all spiritual possession takes place within the Christian pantheon. It's actually quite rare to have such a strong duality in a religious tradition that creates expressions of concentrated evil and malevolence. Only Islam compares, and there are Islamic demons and djinns that can possess people as well. Ultimately though, these entities are, always have been and always will be part of our subconscious, so banishing or exorcising them will only last for so long. Eventually we all have to learn to face our demons.... including the most pious of Christians.

I believe in demonic possesion, at the same time we believe iin God.

I give in example..in some culture activity that related to God. The ritual itself a demonic posse ion. The evil spirit come in to the person body so he can be cut himself, walk on a fire, eat metal and glasses without having harm at all.

Still there's God.

No, I don't believe in demonic possesion. I don't even know if I believe that there is a devil. I'm up in the air on that topic.

No, I do not believe in demonic possesion. I have heard some crazy stories but its like ghosts and aliens....where's the proof.

I also consider myself agnostic. We as people just have the tendency to be very very evil. People like Hitler, Stalin, Jeff Dahmer are evil to me. The closest thing to demonic possesion in this world to me are these evil people. It is in all of us. They were just crazy and we all have the ability to be evil if we let ourselves slip into that. It is not coming from the devil, it is already in us. It's human nature and I think its ridiculous to blame it on some entity that just happens to grab onto us.

This is true only if one uses the labels you have offered. Do I believe in demonic possession. No! Do I believe that some people are evil? Most definitely! You are free, of course, to label them demonically possessed. Just as you are free to attribute all good qualities to God. There are many reasons why I attribute good to the individual, just as I attribute evil to the individual. History is filled with the evil of men who claimed to be acting in behalf of God. To me that is one of the biggest arguments against organized religion. To each there own.

There is both good and evil in this world. it is not the lack of faith in God that makes one susceptible to possession. For someone who had no faith in God, possession would mean nothing to the devil, why would he bother?

Yes in so far as devils are rampant damaging emotions, that demons are unhealthy trends and to be possessed by these is diverse and damaging.
Thats just my opinion.
