I assume this is a footbridge, and that the ditch is 6 feet wide or less, and 3 feet deep or less. Correct? If not, how about some diimensions & something about the load the bridge must carry? If so, a pair of WEATHER TREATED 4x4s can be flopped across the ditch, with the ends set in concrete. Use the kind of concrete that will set UNDER WATER. Let it dry. Then use DECK SCREWS to fasten 1x6 or 1x8 WEATHER TREATED planks across the top of the 4x4s at the desired width. Of course, you''ll have to decide the width in advance in order to place the 4x4s properly, and you can have the lumberyard saw the 1x6s into the desired with.
