Tell the truth otherwise you will be partly responsible if this dog ever attacks another child. Do you really that looming over your head if anything bad ever happens? This dog does not need to be around young children. Do the right thing, and if the authorities ask, tell the the truth.

Even if this is a new behavior, it is an alarming one. Small children can be seriously injured by dogs. Your friend needs to seriously consider finding this dog a home without exposure to children, or euthanasia. A biting dog is NOT acceptable.
Besides the obvious reasons that a children - biting dog is bad, they are a major lawsuit in the making. If that dog bites a child, and the parents want to pursue it, they can make a lot of trouble. Especially if the dog has a history of biting a child before. That fact means that they can prove that the owners were aware that the dog was potentially dangerous. Really bad legally.
If I were you, I would talk your friend into getting the dog evaluated by a veterinary behaviorist, and trying to find it a different home. You don't want to be involved in this mess! What if another child is hurt? I love dogs, but aggressive dogs are not compatible with living with humans.
BTW - distemper vaccines are not important in a biting animal. A rabies vaccine is the only one that matters, as rabies is transmissable to people. Distemper has absolutely nothing to do with the dog's temperament!

Ok the dog is being abused get him a new home or chances are the dog will have to be put down. It won't be right if the dog has to be put down. When it is the owners fault for not taking care of him. When you have a child you wouldn't set and let another child beat the crap out of the other and animals should be treated with the same love and respect if you vouch for her dog you are just as bad as her. I don't mean to sound rude but it is true

the dog def needs the distemper shots. very important. but the dog is probably not excercised enough. and your friend probaby has not taken the role of the pack leader. Im willing to bet that she doesnt displine the dog in the proper ways, doesnt walk the dog correctly, doesnt set the proper limitations, and doesnt walk it enough. The walk is EXTREMELY important. it lets the dog get rid of energy and lets the dogs pack instincts take over, which is either as a follower, in which case the dog walks behind or next to the walker and is totaly focused on the walk, or as the leader, with the dog out in front, sniffing, maybe doing his business, with the walker letting him/her do it. The dog is now taking that energy out on children, whether it be fearful/nervous energy or aggressive energy, or even excited energy. You may seem surprised by the behavior, but it may be a case where the signs are there and you dont even realize it.
PLEASE, before the dog hurts someone else or is made to be put down, READ "Cesar's Way" by Cesar Millan. He is a dog psychologist and is BRILLIANT. he also has a show on the national geographic channel, called "The Dog Whisperer", he knows what hes doing! the book will open your eyes to many things. please get it for your friend, you wont regret it!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sounds like this dog has had enough of being teased by children. Even the nicest dogs will only put up with so much. After biting 3 kids he shouldnt be trusted around them anymore and would be best re homed with an experienced dog lover that is prepared to put in the time and effort to train him propery. Maybe before your friend thinks about getting another dog she should make sure she trains her children the right way to act around dogs to keep them safe, and children should always be supervised properly around animals

if this dog is peeing everywhere when excited it is way to nervous to even be around children. find it a new childless home. poor dog.you said the one yr old beats on it? hello where are the adults??do your friend a favor and get her to find this dog another home before a kid looses an eye or a finger. it will be the fault of the owners not the poor dog. PAY ATTENTION.

Sounds like the dog just said, "Okay, I've had enough!"
If it was MY dog who had bitten 2 children and an adult, I wouldn't be emailing my friends to vouch for the dog, I'd be sadly giving my permission to have the dog put down.
What's wrong with your friend?

next time he could kill a child..the first time MY dog ever bit my child she would be gone,no matter how much i loved her!!! she will bite again!! the dog could be in pain...so she should take it to the vet to get an exam done,if he just started biting something might be wrong!!but regardless you need to tell the truth, what if that was your child?she needs to do something with the dog...what kind of dog is this?

it is because of the shot, when you give dogs medication it can change the way that they act for a while, whether its making them sick or tired or just making them all around iritable it does have some effect on their personalitys
