Putting ice in beer isn't uncommon - but there are impurities that could interact with the flavors, and it will water the beer down, but other than that it isn't dangerous.
It wasn't intended to be enjoyed that way by the people who made it for you. If you want to make it cold, real fast, stick it in ice and wait 18 minutes or keep a mug in a freezer.
No self-respecting beer enthusiast would treat beer this way - that would be alcohol abuse! But you gotta go a long way to "ruin" beer.
But it's his beer - he bought it, so he can do what he damned well wants with it.

It kind of ruins it. - The ice melts and "waters down" the beer, and it makes the carbonation escape faster - I don't know the technical term, but it basically makes the beer go flat.
Kind of nasty all around.
Just stick them in the freezer on on some ice for about 10 minutes and they'll cool off some. Better if you can give it about 1/2 hour.

I suppose that as the ice melts it would "ruin" it because it would water it down. Maybe he should see about pouring his beer into a frozen mug. My hubby likes his beer ICE cold too. That's what he usually does. He has two in the freezer and he just alternates them as he's drinking his beers.

i think it ruins it by watering it down, and i would never do it w/ a beer i just opened. the only time ive ever done that is w/ left over keg beer the next day when its like 90 outside and the few aren't cold yet, and the beer is flat and kinda nasty anyway lol

i drink beer with ice. it's great in really hot climates and if you drink it fast enough you won't even taste any difference.
I like some beers with, some without.
Most people in South East Asia drink beer with ice. But maybe that's because the beer tastes so bad to begin with.

Beer with ice in is obviously 'cool', that's why people add it. Depending on where you are in the world, it won't affect the taste, and if you're in the US it will hardly make any difference diluting it either.

it isn't commonly used but I don't think that it would 'ruin' the beer, but as the ice melts it does dilute the beverage just like anything you would add ice to.

Ruin it? stupid? the answer is you're doing both. Why would you want to do that to a perfectly good beer? What has it done to you to deserve such disgrace?
