it means you should talk to your doctor - you might have something else.

Please see the webpage for more details on Cushing's Syndrome. It is usually caused by pituitary tumour. This overstimulates the adrenal cortex by excessive ACTH production. Other causes are (1) a tumour (adenoma) of the adrenal cortex which produces excess cortisone (2) some forms of lung cancer (bronchial carcinoma) produce excess ACTH. Clinical features include purple streaks ('striae') can be seen on the lower abdomen and buttocks. Acne on the face (a skin condition common in adolescence, in which blackheads (comedones) are associated with a papular and pustular eruption of the pilosebaceous follicles. Usual sites are the face, neck, and upper part of the chestand back) and increased hair may occur.

Sorry to disagree with your statement, but it is highly unlikely that a doctor would order this unwieldy test were it not for the fact that s/he has seen some signs of the disease.

Don't treat the doctor as an enemy, but as an ally. If you take that stance, chances are they will, too. If you have laboratory confirmation of the disease, chances are that you are early enough in the disease for the manifestations to be minimal, or you are in heavy duty denial.
