I'm 15 y.o. and this is something that has been bothering me TREMENDOUSLY these past few months.. but just yesterday as I was thinking I realized that no matter how hard you think about it it is still going to happen and it will waste a LOT of valuable time to live thinking about it. I was terrified until just yesterday when I realized that when you die your senses will not work and nor will your emotions. so the only time you can be scared is before you die because after that you don't have the ability to be afraid of anything. and I'm sure even if you did most people wouldn't be afraid because it already happened. so being afraid and worried and scared will waste your time in life that you could be enjoying in some way or another. for me the scariest part was not understanding it because the human brain just can't comprehend what will happen because it is something it has never experienced personally and to think about what it will be like is impossible because as I said your senses and emotions will be inactive so there will be no way to describe it. I am a very religious person and during these last few months I completely lost my grasp of things thinking about death. but now that I have my worries in order I realize that being afraid is something you shouldn't do if you have faith because GOD will forgive your sins and let you go to Heaven

I'm only 15.5 yrs old but I'm not afraid of death. I may come to fear it as I get older, but I doubt that. I realize that people can die at any age and so I don't really see why any one would be more or less afraid as they get older. Of course, I don't really want to die, and if I did fear it it would simply be because I'd be leaving my few loved ones behind and that I may not have done everything that I wanted or needed to do in life.

I'm getting up there and I'm not more afraid but I now have a better understanding that it's inevitable. Even though I knew I would die way day because everyone does, as I get older it's more tangible. The scariest/saddest part is leaving my family.

Since Vietnam, I have not feared much of anything, including death. I didn't expect to see my 25th birthday, much less my 63rd, so every day is a plus! I don't fear death, since it's just another part of life. The only apprehension I have is the lack of information about what happens after death, if anything.

I find the older people are the less afraid of death they become. I've taken care of a lot of the elderly and found this to be true. They seem satisfied that they have lived a long full life and a lot of times due to health resort to the fact it will end soon.Few seem to have any regrets or any thing left undone.
There seems to be a calming quality to their life and a peace.

I don't know if growing in AGE makes you less afraid, or if it is growing in UNDERSTANDING that makes the fear subside.
We are told the righteous have nothing to fear. So if we live our lives right, and strive to have a personal relationship with God, then faith replaces fear.
It is the whole 'fear of the unknown" thing. And I can't tell you exactly what it is like to experience death. No one can.
There is one time in my life when I felt overwhelmingly the power and pure love of God fill the room, and move me to tears. That is when I gave birth to my child. A new spirit child of God, so new in my arms. It was unspeakably spiritual.
I think that God is there guiding us as we enter the world, and as we leave. Filling us with love and hope and peace.

Less afraid. As I become a stronger person in my faith, I realize that when my time is up I will see ( or hope to see) many loved ones. Especially my grandparents and my cousin.
I just hope that when it comes I will be asleep, there fore I may not know what is going on. The one thing that scares me is that I will grow very old and end up with alzheimers, Im totally scared of that because I have seen first hand the devistation it causes families to see their loved ones going through alzheimers/dementia. It is very sad because half of the time they do not know what is going on, and then they do not remember their families. It is so sad.

I grew up with a strong awareness of death, & as a youngster, I knew that if ever given the choice, I would prefer beheading. Odd; I know!
Now that I'm older, I still have no fear of death.
I do fear pain, or a painful death. I want to go quickly & painlessly.

Over 40 and still don't fear death. I know its coming but I need to look at life, my family and spending time with them.
The focus is on life, regardless. I will know when its time.
