Myomectomy
I have had 2 fibroids removed 5 years ago.
The surgery itself is simular to how they do a hysterectomy. The incision will be about 3 to 4 inches across just below your pubic line, bikini cut.
You'll be in the hospital for 3 to 4 days. The 1st day after surgery is the worst, but you will be on a demerol drip.
After the IV pain med you will be given percodan or some other strong oral med.
You will also have a catheter in for the 1st day. After it is removed going to the bathroom is going to suck. Not only will you feel like you have to pee constantly, but can't your stitches will feel like there ripping out everytime you move.
You'll be on a clear liquid diet the first 2 day and gradually be on solid foods by the last day.
Before they let you eat real food you have to tell the nurse you farted. Heheee!
By the last day they will have you up walking the halls. You WILL need the pain med to do this.
When you go home the pain will not be as severe, but you will notice that certain movements will aggitate the incision.
Do not try to sit up by using your stomach muscles. Roll on your side and ease up that way.
Avoid walking up and down steps too.
The healing proccess is pretty fast. By the end of the 2cd week you will feel good. The only thing you will be bothered by is the feeling of the stitches pulling when you move certain ways. It won't be painful after the 2cd week.
Try to walk as much as you can. Take a pain pill before you do at least for the 1st 2 weeks.
That will help speed up healing and make the muscles stronger
Use neosporin or vitamin E on the incision scar. That will help it heal and fade better.
Make sure you drink lots of water and cranberyy jiuce so that you wont be at risk for any urinary infections.
Other than that it realy isn't too bad.
Unfortunately fibroids can come back. I have 2 more that need to be removed again. However, I am 8 months pregnant with my 1st baby. I would not have been able to carry her if I would not have had that surgery.
Good Luck!

I've not had this surgery personally, but I do have a long family history of fibroid tumors. My mom had to have a hysterectomy because of fibroid tumors. My sister had surgery and had the fibroids removed, she did fine for a couple of years, then the tumors came back an she ended up having a hysterectomy. I have 2 aunts with fibroid tumors, one had to have a hysterectomy and the other had surgery to have the fibroids removed and has to have a D&C about every 2-3 years (she refused to have a hysterectomy). Recovery times vary, depending on how extensive the surgery is, but you should be back to normal in 4-6 weeks. My family is not typical and a lot of times the fibroids do not come back, but they can. Go for your regular check-ups with your gyn and you should do fine. I'll pray that everything works out fine for you, God bless!

my aunt had this done recently. She had several tumors removed. It took less than 2 weeks to heal. Doc will tell ya when can resume intercourse. Not too serious, especially with the pain medication.

Get laparoscopy surgery in India.Thats the best method.Surgery is very cheap in India. There is one company that is very famous in India that arranges surgery for foreigners in India. They are called the Forerunners Healthcare.I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories.I have also read that they arrange financing for american and canadian patients as all surgery is not covered by insurance.

They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. The cost savings are incredible. As a doctor i personally believe that your surgery can be easily handled in India as the quality of healthcare available here is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.If you still havent got your surgery done, you are better off getting it done in India.

my cousin got a surgery for her uterus through the forerunners healthcare in India and is all praise for this company. She is more than very happy with the results.she just paid 30% of the amoun she was quoted in USA.hope this helps.
