I think that's a cute idea. I may try it when I move (whenever that is).

No, it isn't tacky to put a photo of your new home. You worked hard to get there!
What is tacky is registering at a store for housewarming gifts, should you throw a housewarming party. People would feel obligated to bring something and may resent it or not be able to afford it. Wine, photo frames, and serving trays were the most frequent gifts that people brought (unbidden) to my housewarming party.

I don't see how it would be tacky. Too some, it may seem like showing off a bit. But, if your friends aren't shallow, then it should be just fine. Congrats on the new house, by the way.

My grandmother just moved and sent the we have moved card with a picture of their new house, it helped me know what their house looks like. It is all a matter of what you want to do. There is nothing wrong with it.

I probably wouldn't do it, in general. It might be a bit tacky. However, if you send a card to close friends & family, who would be interested in seeing your new home, you could include a note and photo.
Do what you feel comfortable doing.

no not to me, but some might perceive it as you asking for a gift, so maybe when you send the card say something like we are so happy to be in our new house and having friends like you is all the gifts we need. Most will send a gift anyway.

I think it is a wonderful idea! That way, when people are coming to visit, you don't have to just tell them, "The third house with blue trim", they can take your card, and compare the house to it. It will make it easier for folks to know that they have the right house.

Yes, it is a great idea. You are proud of your home.
But to some people that are struggling and could be really offended by this, don't send them one with a pic of new home on it.
It will only create tension.
Enjoy your new home......and have fun gardening and decorating!

Sounds like a good plan, shows you're happy about your new home and have taken the time to photograph it to show it to your friends etc. It would make people feel more welcome to visit if they can see what the house looks like, and can visualise it when you talk about "my new house."

No it's not tacky, just being "creative" and "original." Go ahead, send those cards!

it's only tacky if the house itself is "tacky" ei: flamingo lawn decorations, overgrown yard, peeling paint, crime scene yellow tape across the doors, indoor furniture out on the front porch, crack whores waving in the background........etc.....LOL
