Yes, oil of cloves, but Ambesol works well, the gel is easier to use and has a better taste. Advil is great for toothaches along with the topical. You didn't ask, but you should see a dentist if you can, because relief is only temporary. You either need a filling, sooner the better to avoid needing a root canal, or will lose the tooth after a lot of pain.

Cloves contain a chemical called eugenol which does have a mild analgesic effect. It seems to work especially well on tooth structure. It's used in a lot of dental materials, most commonly in sealant for root canals. It's also why dentists' offices tend to smell like cloves. Whether you can get enough by chewing on cloves is debatable. You'd probably get better pain relief from taking a few ibuprofen.

Yes, clove oil is very good on toothaches. It tastes kind of nasty, but it does work. Whiskey also helps. Not drinking it, but washing your mouth out with it. Swish it around on the affected area and it will numb it. Try it. both remedies work well.

Clove oil has an analgesic effect. So I'd say yes.

But try it yourself. It might work better than you think.

Yes, for milder toothaches, but if you have a severe infection you need to get to a dentist/doctor for antibiotics.
