Mulled cider!
Mulled Cider
6 servings
ingredients:
5 c Cider
1/4 c Lemon juice
1/4 c Lightly packed brown sugar
4 Whole cloves
1 1 1/2" piece cinnamon stick
1 1 1/2" piece dry ginger root
Freshly grated nutmeg
directions:
Combine the cider, lemon juice and brown sugar in a stainless steel pot. Heat the mixture slowly to the simmering point. Meanwhile, tie the cloves, cinnamon stick and ginger root together in a piece of cheesecloth. Add the bag of spices to the simmering liquid and heat over low heat for 15 minutes. Remove the spice bag. Serve hot with a sprinkling of nutmeg in mugs. Yields 6 servings. From the book "Canadian Christmas Cooking" by Rose Murray AR/92 April Roche

I like Apple cider, but prefer homemade,..as I once picked the apples that my boss sold to a major apple juice/sauce company that shall remain nameless. These were apples that had already fallen to the ground, and were full of worms and yucky stuff. I was told by boss to just throw them into barrels and not to worry about that stuff. I DID try to remove the yuckies as good as I could with twigs, but....Anyhow.. no processed apple products for me.
