I can't really rate him, as I have not followed his work closely, just what I've seen on the news or in the paper.
I've heard that he is a conservative personally, and if he had his way he would put the Church back a couple of hundred years lol, but I've also heard that he is known for putting himself last and doing the will of God and the Church, even if he disagreed with them.
I read his first paper (sorry, don't know the latin name it's called) and was very glad to see that his main theme was Love. Mainly calling Christians to love God, love each other, and keep that as a focus in our lives. That was good.

I've never really agreed with the whole idea of a pope. It seems frighteningly close to being a cult rather than a form of Christianity. Think about it, you have somebody(a human person) pretty much in change of the whole religion who actually seems to have the authority to trump what the bible says. Pretty much what they say is written in stone for all of those who follow. That's way too much power for someone to hold. I don't believe that any one person is inherently better than anyone else. God doesn't play favorites. I also don't like the idea that I can't talk to God myself, but instead I have to go to a priest and have him intercede for me. That's not what the bible tells me.

He doesn't have the charisma of the prior one. I don't trust him, but I hope he is a good pope. I'm not Catholic.

He kinda gave me the creeps when I saw him the first time. There's something about him that seems a little bit unusual
