You do not have to be a citizen of the US in order to join the US Marines! Just go to the nearest Marine Corps recruiting station and talk to the sergeant there. Of course, serving in the US Marines will certainly be looked upon favorably when you do become elegible for citizenship! Good luck, youngster; that's a hard road to travel. Becoming a Marine is not easy. But your gunny won't let ya fail!

If you move to the US and establish residency, and have NO criminal record in Australia, then go to the local Marine Corps recruiter near where you live and join...after you serve a hitch, you can apply for fast tracked citizenship.

You don't actually need to be a U.S citizen to join the marines. A clean background as far as arrests or whatever is helpful, but I don't believe entirely necassary. You can join and get your citizenship while serving if that's a route you'd like to take.

Fly to Mexico, cross the border, buy a fake ID in Los Angeles and join the Marines. As crazy as it may sound it will work.

Good luck Aussie, it's not that hard to get into the armed forces, it would put you and the fast tract to citizenship if that's what you want. You can even get a great education in the military for free, good luck mate.

There are all kinds of stories about immigrants from Mexico, the recent wars in the former Yugoslavia, et cetera, that show a precedent -- the United States military is willing to accept immigrants. Do your research before you come over but I bet it will be easier than you think, assuming you qualify regarding age, health, and fitness levels.

Wouldn't it be easier to join the armed forces of Australia? If you like America and you do it legally, go ahead. I hope you don't go to Iraq.
