To open credit or doing anything ilegal with it? I fear that my soon to be exhusband will do something along those lines or just to be mean.

Call the social security office and ask them tomorrow.
It may be possible to change it.
Also call Experian credit company and ask them to put a lock on your credit file so no one can apply for credit with your number.
You will have to call all three credit companies:
Experian
TRW
I forget the other one.

Do some research on the internet to get their phone numbers and find out how to lock your credit file.

You have my sympathies. Divorce is never good at the best of times and having an ex that would be that petty makes it a thousand times worse. Make him give you everything he has that has your personal info on it. If you suspect foul play at any time, report it to the credit bureau, your credit card companies, your bank, and the police.
