Diphenhydramine is one of many drugs which cause anticholingergic side effects. Some cardiac effects that may occur include palpitation, tachycardia (rapid heart beat), and hypotension (low blood pressure). Severe anticholingergic side effects can be reversed by using physostigmine given IV.
